The tatooed brunette

--

(Rodrigo Peñaloza, 2013)

She was a fair brunette with long black hair. She turned her back to me to pack the stuff I bought. First she nicely wrapped it all in plastic, then tied it with a cute blue ribbon. She contemplated the package for a while only to tighten the ribbon a little bit more. “What a work of art!”, she thought. Yes, I read her thoughts while I mechanically watched her. All of the sudden, the unexpected happened. She had a small tatoo on her wrist, the symbol of the Infinite! It was hidden right there on that part of the skin so often cut by knives when some people decide to finish themselves. That changed everything. She had a tatoo... and it was the symbol of the Infinite! On that spot! That was the moment when she became interesting.
